A Nevada hunter has done what many people believe is a first--he took down a mountain lion, without the use of dogs or guides, with a bow.
The hunter, Juan Lapeire, went after what he thought was a coyote, only to come face to face with a mountain lion.
In Nevada, mountain lion hunting is allowed in certain areas, but almost always relies upon dogs to tree the animal or guides experienced in the hunt. Juan was one his own and walked to within five feet of the elusive lion without scaring him off. It is thought that this particular animal may have been deaf. He took one shot and nailed it, dropping it 200 yards later.
